State of North Carolina Wayne County

In the name of God amen. I Willm Raiford of the State & County aforesaid being in sound & perfect mind & memory, praise be given to Almighty God for his kind mercy, do make and ordain this my last will & testament manner and form following That is to say first and principally I desire to commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body I committ to the Earth to be decently buried at the descretion of my Executors hereinafter named and what worldly goods & estate it hath pleased the Lord to bestow upon me I give and dispose as followeth, First my will and desire that my Exects not the Sheriff do sell as much of the property as they think best to pay my debts.

Item I will that my wife do have the manner plantation during her life or widowhood, the negroes and [illegible] with other [illegible] [illegible] for (plantation ?) [smudge] [smudge] six cows & calves, twenty head of hogs suitable for the (life?) of her support, with the sheep [illegible] [illegible]. After the death or marrying another man, then (for the ? forsake?) Plantation & all the lands & improvements thereunto belonging to be sold by the excts and not by the sheriff at publick sale giving such (excts?) as they may see (cause?), and the money put to [illegible] to school the heirs that is to say John, Jethro, Wm, (Bud? Beed?), Needham, Isaac, the five younger sons and in case my wife should be deliverd of the one is now expected in the woomb if a son to heir as equal part with the other five above named which is to say the above mentnd plantation and all old & new (pattant?) land that there is [illegible] for, as they come of age to receive their part & if either or a! ny of them depart this life under age for the other brother or brothers living so heir his or their parts, to him or them his or their heirs or assigns forever, and if a daughter lawfully begotten of her body to share an equal part with the rest, Hereafter to be mentiond.

Item My will is that after the death or marriage of my wife that [illegible] the Negroes belonging to my property be sold by my exets and not by a sheriff, in my family, if any, and (not?) (out?) except its be the [illegible] of my heirs or assigns. I will that the Negroes if convenient might have their choice to chose which of my sons or daughter they will, so that they may be equally divided [illegible] that the rest of my movable estate between my sons & daughter to them and their heirs forever.

And lastly I do hereby appoint my brother Philip Raiford and Needham Whitley Wm Farmer Needham Whitfield Lewis Whitfield, to be my whole & sole Executors of this my last will & Testament & I do revoke, disannul and make void all former wills & Testamts heretofore by me made In witness where I have here unto set my hand & affixd my seal this 6th of May [smudge] [smudge] [smudge]
