About William Raynehart
Buried in Glade Reformed Cemetery.
Was a well-known blacksmith at Walkersville, Maryland. He was born on the banks of the Monocacy River, opposite Walkersville in 1804. He was the son of George and Susanna (Smith) Rinehart.
William received his education in the common schools of his day. He learned the blacksmith trade from Mr. Snook, in Walkersville, when about age sixteen. He purchased the business after marriage and continued in the blacksmith business until his death in 1864. He was a prominent citizen of Walkersville in his day.
Politically, Mr. Rinehart was in earlier life an Old Line Whig. Upon the formation of the Republican Party he became a member of this organization and was the first in his locality to vote for Abraham Lincoln.
He was raised in the Reformed Church, however, for many years, a member of the United Brethren Church.
