He was in Strawberry Bank, Oyster River, New Hampshire by 1643. 1645 had from Darby Field [who married Agnes Williams] a deed of a farm in occupation of Thomas Roberts (prob a close relative), sold the farm in 1646 and bought another which he lost in 1664 as endorser of Edward Colcord's bond. Town grant of 100 acres each in 1662, 1663. Was a strong Quaker. [1]

At 6 June 1673 William Roberts purchased twenty acres together with a mansion house from William Follett, this was William Robert's home to his death. William was killed in 1675 during King Philip's War. Admin. of estate 29 March 1676 by Richard Otis of Dover. [2]

History - History of Durham, NH by E.S. Stackpole, p.319, part 2 -

William Roberts was fined for mending the stocks 5:5:1643, perhaps he did a poor job.

From History of Durham, p. 56

William Roberts lived on the next lot west, the same who was killed by Indians in 1675. He sold a piece next to the road, on the back side of his lot to Thomas Doughty, who sold it to John Curtis of Protsmouth in 1667. In 1664 Roberts gave a deed of his remaining land to William Pitman, who had been living there since earlier than 1657, and perhaps had married Roberts' daughter, Ann. [SIC: unnamed distrust married (John) Sias; their son John married Ann, daughter of William Pitman]

From History - History of Durham, NH by E.S. Stackpole, p.319, part 2

The children of William Robets, then, were as follows: Ann perhaps, m. William Pitman; Hannah m. (1) William Hill, (2) 22 May 1694 John Cox; Grace b. 1662, m. abt 1682, Philip Duley (2) Timothy Moses, daughter m. Salathiel Denbow, or Denmore; Sarah m. John Harmon of Scarborough, Me.; Elizabth prob.; m. Nicholas Dunn; William "a simple youth," mentioned in1669.

From Vol. III, pp. 229-233, section entitled, "Roberts, of Oyster River, New Hampshire (from Lydia Harmon, 1924)." of Walter Goodwin Davis.  1996.  Massachusetts and Maine Families in the Ancestry of Walter Goodwin Davis (1885-1996):  a Reprinting, in Alphabetical Order by Surname, of the Sixteen Multi-Ancestor Compendia (plus Thomas Haley of Winter Harbor and His Descendants) compiled by Maine's Foremost Genealogist, 1916-1963. Genealogical Publ. Co., Baltimore, MD (Broderbund CD-194).

William Roberts and one of his sons-in-law were killed by Indians in 1675, during King Philip's War... From the account [of his estate] ... it appears that Roberts was survived by his wife and that his son, William Roberts, died before 1677... The name of William Robert's wife is not known.  The number and names of William Robert's children are determined by the deeds disposing of the two hundred-acre town grants.  The property was conveyed in "one-fifth parts" by Elizabeth Allen, Sarah Harmon, Grace Moses and Hannah Cox, all stating that they were daughters of William Roberts.  This leaves only one fifth to be accounted for, and proves that at the date of the division no son of William Roberts was living to inherit a double portion.  The last fifth was held in shares, of which two were conveyed by John Sias and Ann, his wife, and one by Richard Denbow, on the same day, to Salathiel Denbow, who later conveyed all his rights in the property of his grandfather, William Roberts.  From these facts the theory is advanced that a daughter of William Roberts married, first, a Sias -- the son-in-law who was killed by the Indians with her father in 1675 -- by whom she had a son, John Sias, who inherited an eldest son's (p. 231) double portion of her estate and that she married, second, Salathiel Denbow, senior, and by him had several other children...

"Generation 1) Nicholas Dun was taxed at Oyster River in 1682. How long he had been there and where he may have come from is not clear. Descendants from the 19th century have claimed both Ireland and Scotland to be his birthplace. There is also a possibility that he was born somewhere in America."
"Elizabeth Roberts was the daughter of William Roberts who was killed at the outbreak of King Philip's War. The name of her mother is not known with certainty, GDMNH shows William's widow as Dorothy. Stackpole, in his "History of Durham" suggests Anne. Davis, in "The Ancestry of Lydia Harmon" states her name is not known.
