Birth: Feb. 15, 1876 Robeson County North Carolina, USA
Death: Sep. 3, 1943 Robeson County North Carolina, USA
William Howard was the son of Israel and Elizabeth Deese Rogers. He married Flora Oxendine.
The following was taken from the Sep. 13, 1943 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Funeral rites for William H. Rogers, 68, prominent Indian and farmer of Robeson who died at his home about 1 p.m. September 3, were held at Piney Grove Sunday about 3 p.m. The services were in charge of Rev. Tommie Sweat of Pembroke. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rogers had been in bad health for about 2 months and he suffered for a period of days before death. He was a man who believed in his religion. He will be greatly missed by his family, church and all who knew him.
Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Flora Rogers and five children, Chalmers Rogers of McDonald, John and Hingred Rogers of Fairmont, Mrs. Anna Strickland of Rowland, Mrs. Bessie Jacobs of Fairmont, and a host of grandchildren who will miss him. He also leaves four brothers and one sister--Silas, French, Junior, and Israel Rogers and Mrs. Leola Spaulding of Maxton.
Pallbearers were James Spaulding, Pvt. Billy Rogers, Thomas Rogers, Govern Locklear, Boston Hunt.
The flowers were in charge of Misses Louise Rogers, Isabelle Rosie Kathleen Spaulding, Mary Rogers, Clarcie Jacobs and Molly Locklear. The flowers were all very lovely which covered a mound of clay.
Special music was furnished by the New Bethel choir, songs were very lovely.
We wish to think everyone who visited and helped us during the illness of our father, husband, and grandfather, William H. Rogers, who will be greatly missed by his friends and community. We feel that one of our best friends is gone and hope to meet him some day.
