About Che-yah (William) ‘Otter’ Scraper
Otter was a Cherokee man
Biography
Otter was born about 1830 in the Cherokee Nation (East). He is the son of Old Man Scraper and Tiana Smith. [1] Otter, listed as "Cheyah" appears on the 1851 Drennan Roll with his father. [2] His date of death is uncertain. He appears on the 1896 Cherokee census living in Tahlequah District, but apparently died before 1900 when Dawes Roll applications were taken. [3]
