Sloane, the furniture company of which his father was a founder. He became a member of the firm in 1866, He married Emily Thorn Vanderbilt in 1874, They had five children, in 1891 the company was incorporated he became a Director & Chairman of W. & J. Sloane. William died of a kidney ailment in Aiken, South Carolina.
