Background Information. 202 William de Standish, lord of the manor of Standish, 1296-1322, son of Jordan and Alianora de Standish died in 1322. he married Margaret, who died before 1332. There is a possibility that she is the daughter of John de Euxton. Thomas le Waleys in 1298, complained that whereas the wardship of William, brother and heir of Ralph, son of Jordan de Standish, belonged to him, on Robert the Serjeant and Alice his wife had abducted the heir.

William held the manor of Standish and lands in Shevington and acted as a witness in 1273/74, 1275/6, and 1299/1300. Records of Williams de Standish are: William de Wygan deeded to William, the son of Jordan de Standish all his estates real and personal in Wigan. Dated 1309/10. William, son of Jordan de Standish, enfeoffs William the son of Nicholas of Wigan and Matilda his wife, in all the lands which had be conveyed to him by Richard de Ince and Alice his wife. Dated 1309/10. Henry, the son of John le Waleys, clerk, enfeoffs William the son of Jordan de Standish in one half the Manors of Standish, for the term of his life, with remainder to the right heirs of the said William. Dated 1318/19. William, the son of Jordan de Standish, made a settlement of one eighth part of the manor of Sheving in fee tail. Dated at Standish, 6 Dec 1283.

In 1324, William de Standish was said to hold lands to the annual value of £ 15, and was summoned to the Great Council at Westminister. His son and heir was John de Standish, Squire of Standish.
