13 February 1583: Precept of Clare Constat by William Stark of Auchinstarrie addressed to William Stark, his son and heir apparent as baillie in that part for infefting Mary, Ester and Jean Flemyng as heirs of umquhile Thomas Flemyng of Auchinvoyll, their father in the two and half merklands of Auchinvoyll, in the barony of Lenzie, sheriffdom of Dumbartane, held of the granter for payment of 8 merks Scots in name of feu ferme. 16 November 1585: William Stark, younger of Auchinstarie, produced a charter whereby James Hammiltoune of Haggis and Alexander Hammiltoune, his son, brother and heir of q. John Hammiltoune, fiar of Haggis, granted to the said William Stark and Margaret Hammiltoune, his spouse, and l.l. (1) an annualrent of £40, payable furth of the 33 s. 4 d. land, old extent, of Drumgraye, lying in the barony of Munklande and shire of Lanark; and (2) another annualrent of £33 6 s. 8 d., payable furth of the two mills of Langlone and Haggis, lying in the same barony and shire. Charter subscribed at Haggis on 15 November, 1585, in presence of John Hammiltoune of Alderstoune, brother of the granter, Mr. Robert Hammiltoune, son of the granter, Archibald Hegait, son and heir apparent of William Hegait, citizen of Glasgow. Sasine of the annualrent of £40 given by Thomas Oswell, dwelling in Drumgraye, and of the annualrent of £33 6 s. 8d. by Peter Kobesoune, dwelling at the mill of Langlone, as bailies in hac parte, f. 23. to the said William Stark, and to Mr. Robert Hammiltoune, son of James Hammiltoune of Haggis, as attorney and in name of Margaret Hammiltoune. • The Genetic Genealogy Report based the lineage from William Stark of Dullutur to Archibald Stark of New Hampshire on the publication; "The Family of General John Stark of New Hampshire, by Jane Elizabeth Stark Maney.1 Because members of Group 2 have been proven to be genetically related this publication provides the basis for the argument that all of the members of Group 2 are descendants of William of Dullutur. This discussion will provide source data and analysis provided by the Maney publication and that of Harris and Jorgensen2 as documented proof of the lineage from William to Archibald.
• "William3 Stark (John2, John1 Muirhead/Stark) was born abt. 1520, and died abt. 1571. He married A. Fleming 1539. The wife of William Stark of Dullutur, so called, was of the peerage. The Fleming family lived near Kilsyth. They had four children.
• The four children were: William Stark of Auchenstarry (the heir); John Stark of Auchenvole; Margaret Stark who married James Rankene; and Robert Stark writer of Edinburgh.
• The H & J publication referenced three sources that most likely connect William Stark of Dullutur to the Fleming family and a son named John Stark.4
