Is it possible that he was actually baptised in North Tawton but his family moved to Crediton very soon afterwards and he only remembered being in Crediton and used it as his birth place?

On the 1861 census, his wife, Grace, was head of the household and shown as a widow. She was still living in Bishops Tawton at the time so the assumption is that William died there. Could it be that he is buried in the church yard of the same church we visited in 2006?
