About William J Waldo
William J. WALDO Born February 14, 1918, passed away March 6, 2006 after a long illness. The eldest of three sons born to Dr. William E. and Ruth Waldo in Seattle. He graduated from the old Broadway High School, attended the University of Washington and was a member of SAE. He began his banking career as a messenger for National Bank of Commerce, was manager of the Capitol Hill branch of NBC, and retired as a vice president for Rainier Bank. He and his wife raised two sons and a daughter in Seattle after getting out of the Army; he remained in the National Guard for 20 years. An avid reader and stamp collector, his real hobby was fire engines. He would leave the dinner table if his short wave radio alerted him that Engine 16 or 17 were called out to a fire. He was part owner of several antique fire rigs and was part of the "Last Resort Fire Department," and enjoyed driving restored fire engines in local Seafair parades. For the last two years of his life, he had been lovingly cared for at a New Hope Adult Family Home. Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Burton C. and Robert G. Waldo, and his son, William F. Waldo. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth E. Waldo, and son, Robert A. Waldo, both of Seattle, along with daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Ann and Ron Smith of Richland; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter, as well as several nieces and nephews. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/seattletimes/obituary.aspx?n=willi...
