William baptised on the 21st Apr 1822 at St John the Baptist in the parish of South Brewham, Somerset. Noted in the Bishops Transcripts for Brewham 1599-1849 Church of England Parish Church of Brewham film 1278915. Indexing Project Bath Number: I03773-7 film 1526376. Notes father as William White and mother Charlotte William was convicted at the Wells General Quarter Sessions in Somerset on the 5th July 1841 and given 10 years. He was convicted for housebreaking and stealing a silver plate valued at 50 pounds as well as for assault. William was incarcerated on the hulk "Stirling Castle" in Devonport, Plymouth before embarking on the Moffatt (III) on the 3rd Aug 1842, departing 14th Aug 1842 with 190 male convicts and arrived in Hobart Town on the 28th November 1842. The "Stirling Castle" was at Devonport, which is Plymouth between March 1840 and September 1844 He had Convict Number: 75484. (Database number?) William married Elizabeth Partridge(Iles) on the 9th October 1848 at the Manse in Evandale with both William and Elizabeth making their mark. The church was possibly St Andrews Presbyterian. They were married by Banns by Robert Russell in the presence of John Gerrish and Elizabeth Gerrish according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of Scotland.
