On October 8, 1764, Archibald sold the last of his property holdings in Virginia. He left Virginia on October 11, 1764; and with his family, settled on the Savannah River near Abbevile, South Carolina on January 3, 1765.
In 1737, nineteen patents; among the patentees--Michael Woods, his son Archibald and his son-in-law William Wallace, more than 1,300 acres on Licking Hole, Mechum's River and Beaver Creek, embracing Blair Park and the present Mechum's Depot, and the same day Michael Woods purchased the 2,000 acre patent of Chrales Hudson on Ivy Creek.
