Confirmed by Fredrick Niedner, Pastor. !Information: Submitted by Melba Schuermann, Kirkwood, MO, 1992 Bill Yancey (known as Earl to Edith) (Mary White used her second name-Edith) grew up in the s ame vicinity in Kentucky. Mary was named after Bill's grandmother, and were married at Providence Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio. A reception at the Surf Club followed the ceremony. They lived in Toledo a few years, then moved to a place on a river near Lawrence, Michigan. F rom there, Bill and Edith moved to Kalamazoo and were living in Plainwell, Michigan. Bill die d of cancer in a hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Bill wanted be buried in St. Louis, He wa s flown there on Saturday, October 24, 1992. Services were at Ortmann Funeral Home in Overland-just a few blocks from where he had lived. Interment was at Laurel Hill Cemetery. !Information: Submitted by Melba Schuermann, Kirkwood, MO, 1992. When Mark Young wanted to know about Uncle Bill (Bill Yancey's) funeral, I made up the attach ed resume, and then noticed that the year of his birth was incorrect, 1919 instead of 1918. All of Paula Heisterber's records, as well as mine were wrong going back at least 10 years. Getting back to the funeral. As you know, Bill died early Thursday morning. Edith called me a bout 8:30 Wednesday evening to tell me that Bill had one to five days to live. Jim and Bill y were going to drive up, but Bill did not make it through the night. Both Jim and Billy call ed me the next morning early. Bill wanted to buried here in St Louis on the plot that he and Alice bought before they were divorced. (Edith is to be buried next to her first husband) . Edith's sister (live in Toledo, OH) and brother-in-law drove her down here. They arrived on Friday and stayed until Tuesday when they took her back. Edith stayed with Jim and Margie and Matthew. Poor Matthew, he took his grandfather's death very hard. You, no doubt, noticed that they requested that donations be made to the Hemophilia Assn. Matthew, is a hemophilic . I talked with Margie early Thursday morning following the funeral. After, she hung up, she received a call from the school that Matthew was very sick. He ended up in the hospital, had to have 4 transfusions. He was bleeding from his stomach-had ulcers. He was in the hospital over the week end. I do not know what all they did for him but they had to get his blood built up, Margie had infused him with Factor 8 several days before he went to the hospital. The y keep a supply of that on hand. We were there Thanksgiving and he seemed pretty good then. He is on a diet but he was sitting at the table in the Great Room so I do not know what he ate . They always set a table in the dining room and in the Great Room. Really don't know what else to tell you about the funeral. Alice and I went to the Funeral Home Sunday evening and also to the funeral Monday. Then everyone went to Bill and Valerie's for lunch. Death: In Loving Memory. William E.
