Possibly our guy:
Aug 7, 1795: Abednego McAtee vs William Hodge. “O.Att. Jacob Beek sworn as garnishee Ordered that the Sheriff sell the said horse, subject to Plaintiffs judgement, except ten pounds, due on a not of hand to the Guarneshee”.

Nov. 5 1795: Abednigo McAtee vs William Hodge, Case #31. O.ttw. Default, 34.0.0. & George Peck is Garn. The Jury is to inquire what the Dft owed on an assigned Not for ten pounds when the Attachment. was levied in his hands. Dft owed 20/? “NB. 11.0. . paid in part of the 15. 5. for which horse of Deft sold by Richd. Leach. NB Cost of suit deducted 9-, 5-6 paid” &c. “Ordered that Richards Leaech be allowed 13/ for keeping a horse attached by Abednego the property of William Hodge.” (transcribed from McCubbins’ file, Rowan County, North Carolina Library)

The sheriff had to sell the horse (2 owners maybe not equal share) to pay William Hodge (& Richard Leach). It appears Abednigo paid his share (34.0.0) but George Peck still owes money (10 pounds or 20/?). The price of the sold horse did not cover the full cost of the bill owed to William Hodge. (still owed 20/?, NB 11.0. .) Pounds - shillings - pence can be pounds.shillings.pence can be pounds/shillings/pence or any mix of the money. The cost of sale was also added to the bill, by the sheriff, as well as the cost of the horse's upkeep 13/ bill is assigned to Abednigo to Richard Leach. sort of clear.

William Hodges was most likely Rebecca’s brother. Jonathan Canter witnessed the 1804 land sale for William Hodges, and Thomas Canter and Rebecca Hodges named their eldest son William (Jonathan Canter, Thomas’ father, did not name any sons William as far as we know).

“To speculate, it looks to me, among other possibilities, like this William Hodges household could have consisted of William as an underage head of household, a brother under 21 (James?), a widowed mother and four sisters. In this scenario, by 1790, one or more sister had married and William’s mother and unmarried sisters, including Rebecca, were living with a married daughter/sister, while William and his younger brother were the two “bachelor brothers” who were listed in the 1790 census” Bryon Lee Bowman

Likely that William was the oldest child, almost certainly the oldest son, and that several siblings were close with him (moving to Clermont County, Ohio with him were James, Rebecca, Mary "Polly", and Nancy—and maybe more). It seems likely that his 1787 would include these siblings. The “widowed mother” speculation can’t be right as Joseph was still alive in 1807 so there would be yet another unmarried sister, potentially, to make up the five white females.

So, potentially then, William and James for the two males, Rebecca, Mary “Polly,” Nancy and two other females. Could William have already married Ruth?
