Willis Sorensen Mower 1926 ~ 2009 Willis Sorensen Mower, age 83, died 31 Dec, 2009 in Bountiful, Utah, following complications due to a massive stroke.He was born in South Ogden, Utah on Aug. 16, 1926, a twin, and the seventh of eight children to Ernest E. Mower and Alice Karen Sorensen. He was a graduate of Weber High School. Willis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on a mine sweeping ship patrolling in the Puget Sound, concentrating on the Straits of Juan de Fuca in the Pacific Ocean from 1944 - 1946. He said he always wished he had made the military a career. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 31 years. On May 15, 1948, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Maxine Boyd, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, January 1961. They were blessed with two children, Boyd W. Mower and Terry Mower Christensen. They resided in South Weber, Utah until Maxine's death in 1965. He later married Karlene Graser on June 20, 1966. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 30, 1984. Willis was very active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. He loved missionary work and was able to serve two missions with his wife, Karlene. They served in the Wilkesbury Pennsylvania and Perth Australia missions. He was a temple worker in both the Ogden and Bountiful temples. Will enjoyed his family, the ocean, hunting, cooking, gardening and telling stories. He is survived by his wife, Karlene, children Boyd W. Mower (Kaylene) North Salt Lake, Kevin Graser (Sue) Woods Cross, Terry Mower Christensen (Alan) American Fork, Kerry Graser (Margret) Murray, Gil Graser (Jean) Salt Lake City, 16 grandchildren, nine great-grand-children, and his sister, Klea Kapp (Jake) Ogden. He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and his first wife. Military graveside services 7 Jan 2010, 1 p.m. at the West Weber Cemetery, 4522 West 1000 North Ogden. We love you Dad and Grandpa, and we will miss you. We appreciate all you have been in our lives.
