Wilma D. Peck, 94, Carthage, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at St. Luke's Nursing Center, Carthage.
Wilma L. Downs Wilson was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Carl Junction, Mo., the daughter of the late W.E. Wilson and Linnie Baker Wilson. She attended Carthage Public Schools and was a 1937 graduate of Carthage High School and attended the local business college. She was a payroll clerk for Smith Brothers Mfg., Carthage, when she met E. Dale Peck and they were united in marriage on March 25, 1951. Her husband, Dale, preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1991.
Wilma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Carthage, the Ladies Golf Association, P.E.O. (50-year member), McCune-Brooks Hospital Auxiliary and Gift Shop, the Mimosa Garden Club, several Bridge clubs, an American Cancer Society volunteer (40-year member) and worked the city and county election polls. "Mom was an angel on earth as she is now an angel in heaven."
Survivors include two sons, David (Ann) Peck, Springfield, Mo., and Gary (Cindy) Peck, Seal Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; three sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in Park Cemetery, Carthage. Rev. Matthew Roberts will officiate.
Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church, Carthage.
