Winant Gillaspy Carrico's middle name was to honor his Grandfather Matthew Gillaspie (Gillaspy) Carrico was orignally from Kentucky. Matthew Carrico fought in the Texas Revolution in 1836.

His Parents were William David Carrico and Mary Charlotte (Gary) Carrico. Winant Carrico married Nolen Edna Vaughn December 6, 1888 Panola County, Texas. Nolen Vaughn was born April 20, 1871 in Lauderdale, Mississippi.

They were the parents of six children:

Winant's Mother Mary Charlotte (Gary) Carrico died June 25, 1926. She rest in Wood Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas. Father William David Carrico born 1852 in Panola County, Texas - died May 13, 1935, buried in Wildwood Cemetery, Terrell, Kaufman County, TX.

Winant Gillaspy Carrico died in 1901. His beloved wife Nolen Edna (Vaughn) Carrico lived in Houston in later years, possibly with one of their sons who lived there, William Carrico or Johnny E. Carrico. She died March 17, 1939 and was buried in Southpark Cemetery, Brazoria County, Texas.

Brother William "Wren" Carrico and wife Minnie Carrico are buried in Wood Cemetery. Sister Mollie E. (Carrico) Wright wife of Henry Douglas Wright is buried in Wood Cemetery. Uncle G.G. "Govy" Gary, (brother of Grandfather James Henry Gary who resided in Panola County) and Aunt Mary Ann Jackson(Carter) Gary are buried in Wood Cemetery, as is their daughter, cousin Cynthia Elvira (Gary) Wright buried in Wood Cemetery, and her infant son Govy Wright.
