About Wolfert Webber
Over the years many have believed, and in spite of the facts still believe, that (Johan) Wolfert Webber was the son of William the Silent, Prince of Orange, Stadtholder of the Netherlands (1533-1584). If true, this connection would have been based upon a morganatic relationship between William I and Annetgen Coch. Allegedly two children were born: Sara and Wolfert Webber and Anneke Jans Bogardus was said to be the daughter of Wolfert. This legend has been questioned, thoroughly researched and disproved yet it still persists.
