He served sepharadi communities in Jaffa and Hebron where he was also a merchant. He is considered amongst the great sages and saint of Jerusalem and Hebron. He was the author of ' Shover Posh'im' a protest against abusive halakkah distributed in Hebron. Yehuda Papo translated and published several of his father's books. In Hessed le alafim, part 1, h wrote a biography of his father.
