Fron Nancy High: The death date for Isaac Goldschmidt Hameln of Frankfurt is incorrect, and based on a slip by Ettlinger. Ettlinger was looking at the death of Hinde, Isaac’s widow, and saw a reference which made him think Hinde had remarried in 1702/03 and, consequently, that Isaac had only recently died. Hinde did not re-marry. The document focused on her name in some capacity (probably because she was a family member in situ in Frankfurt) at the time of the marriage in 1700 of her granddaughter, Freudchen* bat Samuel Goldschmidt Hameln of Lemgo to Natan “zum Kamel”. And Glueckl confirms in two ways that Isaac had died between 1677 and 1685. First, she mentions his presence at the wedding of his son, Samuel, in about April 1677 (she describes the wedding as having taken place 12 weeks after Josef Hameln’s death, i.e. on 30 Jan 1677), and later, in describing his lifespan, she states that he had not even reached the age of fifty when he died. Since he was the fifth child of Josef and Freude, his birth year should be between 1627 and 1635, so he almost certainly died before 1685.
