Zachariah Gross was born 1766 at Gross Point (Orland, Hancock, Maine). From the History of Orland, Me, "Zachariah Gross was the first white male child born on the plantation, in the year 1766." He died 22 Jul 1846, Cape Cod Settlement, Bucksport, Hancock, Maine. His parents were Joseph Gross from Boston, MA and Tabitha Goodell from Frankfort, ME. ("The earliest settler in Orland, then Plantation #2, was Joseph Gross, who came from Fort Pownal, now Fort Point, in 1764, and settled on the lot on the Castine Road.")

On 15 Jan 1789 Zachariah Gross married Lucy Lawrence daughter of Abel Lawrence of Littleton, MA and Deborah Gordon of Stow, MA. Lucy Lawrence was born 13 July 1771, Massachusetts and died 11 May 1846 in Bucksport, Hancock, Maine.
