Zachariah Huntington was born November 2, 1764, in Norwich, CT and married March 23, 1786, Hannah Mumford. He was a merchant, and a man of distinction. In military life he attained the rank of major general. For a beautiful tribute to his personal character see Mrs. Sigourney's reminiscences in the Memoir of 1863. His will made a certain provision for "my nieces, the daughters of my brother Ebenezer." He died June 23, 1850.
