Zakiah/Zakiyya Ahmedjan Ismail (1994 - 2020)

Brief overview:

Zakiyya (26), who was 3-4 months pregnant, was dragged into the bathroom of the family home at Ayoobs Farm, near Weenen Combined School, and one of the perpetrators slit her throat, on 4th July 2020.

Zakiah’s husband, Ayoob Ismail, put up a fight but was eventually overpowered by the attackers. He was seriously injured and transferred to hospital.

Hearing the commotion, Zakiah, who was four months pregnant, rushed to the kitchen. The mother of two children, aged four and eight, was grabbed by the attackers and dragged to the bathroom, where they cut her
throat. Her children were taken to another room. Zakiah was certified dead at the scene.
