'Zerubbabel SNOW

was born 14 May 1672 in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA.

He died 20 Nov 1733 in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA.

Zerubbabel married Jemima CUTLER on 22 Sep 1697

in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA.

Zerubbabel was a famous Indian fighter in the early days.

Later he would move to the area around Concord, New Hampshire, and live there for a while. While living in Concord, he was hunting one day and as he was heading back to camp, as night was starting to fall, he became the hunted.
A large pack of wolves chased him, until he was able to climb a tree. Zerubbabel fired at the wolves until all the balls of shot he had with him were gone. Then he cut the buttons off his coat and fired those at the wolves. The wolves refused to leave and hung around the tree all night. Finally at daylight they gave up and left the tree. After the wolves left , Zerubbabel climbed down and made his escape. Because of this incident, a nearby pond just east of the Merrimack river was given the name " Snow Pond".I have no other records of Zerubbabel's family except this, In the book " Snow Estes Journal" a grandson who had become the President of the University of Kansas told the same tale of him being a Famous Indian fighter.

Biography

Zerubabbel Snow was the second son of John Snow and Mary Green of Woburn MA. His mother, Mary Green (b. Jan. 1644), was the daughter of William Green who was born on October 16 1591, in Devon, England, and Hannah (Carter Parkhurst) Green who was born on March 20, 1596, in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. His father (b. 1640) was a son of immigrants Richard Snow and Annis (Annie) Avis (Barrat) Snow[1]. Woburn's vital records record his birth as May 14, 1672[2]. He was named for the Old Testament figure: Zerubabbel, who led the Hebrews back to Judah from captivity and laid the foundations for the second Temple in Jerusalem ca. 525 BCE.

Zerubabbel Snow married Jemima Cutler on September 22, 1697[3] at age 25 and they had nine children: 7 sons and 2 daughters. They spent their entire lives in or near Woburn MA and Zerubabbel died there, according to Woburn's vital records, on November 20, 1733.

The correct death date is May 5, 1677, making it likely that the Richard Snow of Woburn MA and that of the "Expedition" were the same man.
