Obituary

Elizabeth Caroline Weaver was born in Richland Township, December 8, 1849. She was one of a family of ten children born to Jesse and Nancy Weaver.

She was married to James Alfred Lewis at Washburn, Ill., Sept 26, 1871. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom are living, one daughter dying in infancy and one son at the age of 21 years.

The greater part of her life was spent in and about Washburn, where she had many neighbors and friends. She departed this life at her home four miles north of Washburn, Aug. 10, 1914, age 64 years 8 months and 2 days. She leaves to mourn her loss a loving husband, three daughters, four sons, sixteen grand-children and five sisters. She had been a sufferer for several years with a growth in her side, which the doctors pronounced a cancerous tumor. She never gave up, doing her home duties until almost the last. She was a loving wife, a kind and loving mother and will be sadly missed by all members of her family. She was of a cheerful nature always meeting every one with a smile of welcome.

The funeral was held at her late home on Wednesday afternoon. The services were rendered by Rev. Mrs. Stretch, from the 24th Psalm. She was laid to rest beside her son in the Baptist Cemetery in Washburn.
