Sea battle at Lillo Belgium (Adolf Van Haemstede vs Louis de Boisot) [30 May 1574]

Haemstede (Adolph), son of White and Agatha Haemstede of Schengen was already in 1543 one of the ships' commanders on the fleet, which Maximilian of Burgundy sent against the French. Soon afterwards the Zealanders at the Fort Lillo was affected . The ship of Haemstede was captured with others, he himself taken prisoner and carried to Delft to the Prince. He remained a prisoner until in 1576. His further fate is unknown.

He was thrice married: 1 st. Anna of Almeras, with whom he fathered six children.
