Giovanni Agusta (born October 4, 1879 in Parma , † 1927 ) was an Italian entrepreneur, aircraft pioneer and inventor of the brake screen . In 1908 he founded the airline Agusta in Palermo , which in 2000 Westland Aircraft to AgustaWestland merged from and on 26 May 2004 Finmeccanica was adopted.
After the end of the Second World War, the motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta was founded as an offshoot of Agusta in order to preserve the jobs of the former aircraft manufacturing workers.
Life
Agusta's family is originally from Sicily . In 1907 Agusta developed the biplane Ag1 . In 1911, he participated as a volunteer at the Italian-Turkish War in Libya in part. A year later he was appointed by the Italian aircraft manufacturer Caproni as a senior inspector for the delivery of bombers to the war front.
