The company was accepted in state service at Howardsville, Albemarle County, Virginia, on 19 April, 1861, and was mustered in state service at Camp Jefferson, near Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia, by Lieutenant Colonel W H Fry, Confederate States Army, on 10 May, 1861.
