Recruited in August & September of 1861, there were Ten Companies in 1862 which, at that time numbered 905 men (see for September 1862. At the end of the first three years of required duty nine officers and three hundred and ninety-three men (402 total, willing or compelled), were organized in a battalion of four companies and consolidated with the 96th Pa. This was in late 1863. The now 'new' 95th began its Spring '64 campaign with the combined force to which new recruits were added. After the end of the War, less than 500 men were on hand to be mustered out in Philadelphia in July of 1865.
