Scope of Project
This project aims to enrich the Geni Family Tree with the details of families listed in the Burke's publication of the same title. The project is not intended to be a collection of profiles, so please do not link profiles to this project. Instead it is intended to improve the quality of the Tree through identification:
- of missing links,
- of duplication, and therefore candidates for merge
- etc
Initial work on this project has used the 1879 edition of the publication as a reference - but the project is not limited to this particular edition. Progress is being tracked using a Google Spreadsheet. This Spreadsheet presently contains a cross-reference between:
- Burke's 1879 edition
- Landed families of Britain and Ireland Blog by Nick Kingsley
- Profile of holder as per 1879 edition
A related project titled "A genealogical and heraldic history of the landed gentry of Ireland" is based on a similar Burke's publication, but is also constrained to a very specific publication. This project is viewed as complementary to that project, though there is a degree of overlap.
