"In the book, all McIlroy/McElroy families were noted as McElroy. Other sources note this family did, and still does, use the "McIlroy" spelling. It is my belief that the McIlroy/McElroy families of York and Liberty townships in Union Co., OH were late-arriving (1765-1775) relations of the "Kentucky McIlroys" from County Down, Ireland."
