  • Joseph Samuel Muir (1875 - 1913)
When Sarah Powell married James Anderson in 1898 there was a Mary Pyke present. Mary Pyke was also present when Joseph died in 1913 in Auchtembeddie

Auchenbeddie (Auchtembeddie), Keynsham, formerly part of St Elizabeth, now located in Northern Manchester.

The aim of this project is to establish a link with Henrietta Mure, Ann Mure, Francis Atkinson Mure & my great grandfather Joseph Samuel Muir. Also to determine if there is any connection to the family of Margaret Malcolm(1759) and my 2 x great grandfather Alexander Malcolm. Margaret had 1 son with Thomas Weir Tayler(son of Thomas William Tayler, the original owner of Auchenbeddie). She later married & had children with John Keen.

Alexander Malcolm had 2 children with Elizabeth Bent??, my great grandmother Madriana Eliza Malcolm & her brother Charles Malcolm. Elizabeth later married Robert Levy. Elizabeth, Charles & Madriana Eliza Malcolm were born in St Elizabeth. It is assumed that Elizabeth & her children moved to Auchtembeddie after she met Robert Levy. Their daughter Julia Rebecca Levy was born around 1879.

Joseph Samuel Muir was born in Williamsfield, St Elizabeth in 1875. How did he obtain ownership of nearly 1/2 of Auchtembeddie. What is the relationship to Robert Levy who also was in possession of a substantial part of this town. How was it that a descendant of the Tayler family contested & gained ownership of Robert Levy's share of Auchtembeddie(according to oral family history)

When my great grandparents William Samuel Whitely & Eliza Malcolm married in 1910, one of the witness was Lucevia Daly-Skeen wife of Frederick Augustus Skene. A John Skene was a witness on the 1819 will of Thomas Weir Tayler. How are all these people connected.
