Battle of Spion Kop - 23 January 1900 to 24 January 1900

The Battle of Spion Kop was a military engagement between British forces and two Boer Republics—the South African Republic and the Orange Free State—during the campaign by the British to relieve the besieged city Ladysmith during the initial months of the Second Boer War.

Fought over 2 days -23 January and 24 January 1902 General Sir Redvers Buller in comand of 20 000 British Troops pitted against General Louis Botha with 8000 Boers.

The outcome was a crushing defeat for the British Forces .
