Caversham Cell, Berkshire (now Oxfordshire), England
Near Reading, on the opposite side of the Thames, is Caversham, where the Earl of Cadogan, who was created baron Reading in the year 1716, built a magnissicent house, which his successor thought proper to reduce: it is now in the possession of Major Marfach. Here was a priory of black canons, cell to Notley abby in Buckinghamshire, famous for the angel with one wing who brought hither the spear that pierced our Saviour's side on the cross.
