For Europeans it very difficult to understand all the abbreviations of USA States, so that's why I intended to look in my ATLAS -from last year, I am not yet that old to catch one of some decennia before- and wrote down all the most important ones.

Hope others can help to assure I don NOT make mistake with the right cities, for I did not have geography in school about the new world. -at that time it was considered the old one, for everyone thought the IRON CURTAINS would NEVER FAIL'us.

NOTE: These are new abbreviations first. The postal department changed to 2 letter abbreviations in the 1980's (I think). The old abbreviation is added after the state name.

Philadelphia, Pittsburgh —Capitol is Harrisburg. The highest percentage of German immigrants in the country moved to Lancaster County. Many of the country's snack foods were created in Lancaster. A lot of deaths are in Pennsylvania due to the Battle of Gettysburg from July 1-3, 1863.
