"In all of us there is a hunger, marrow-deep, to know our heritage - to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum. An emptiness. And the most disquieting loneliness."

UNDERSTANDING THE COMPLEXITY OF FAMILY RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS IS IMPORTANT IN STUDYING GENEALOGY.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Psychologists who have studied identity development have coined the term, 'Genealogical Bewilderment' which deals with identity development associated with a child 'fostered, adopted, or conceived via an assisted reproductive technology procedure such as surrogacy or gamete donation (egg or sperm donation)'

Indeed, Genealogical Bewilderment is a controversial topic, but the intense emotions associated with Adoption & Genealogy are real. This project is for discussion of issues related to adoption and genealogy. Tips may be shared regarding location of biological parents as well. Most important, there's encouragement to celebrate family regardless of its beginnings.

Facebook:: DNA Detectives --- "Genetic genealogists focused on finding biological family for adoptees, foundlings, donor-conceived individuals, unknown paternity and all other types of unknown parentage cases. Testing recommendations here: http://adoptiondna.blogspot.com/p/recommended-tests.html. The DNA Detectives also offers paid consulting (info@thednadetectives.com) for in depth and/or private assistance, but this site is for pro-bono advice on unknown parentage cases.
