Pama, C. 1983. Die Groot Afrikaanse Familienaamboek, p.116 list the following Faber SV/PROGs in South Africa.

There are at least another three (more recent) Faber progenitors from the Netherlands and the UK respectively not listed in Pama.

This project focus on Johann Jürgen Faber and his children as well as descendants of the sons who survived into adulthood i.e. Cornelis Jacobus Faber and Michiel Gerhardus Balthasar Faber.

The objectives of the project:

  • To review and expand the information for the progenitor and the b generation,
  • To collaborate with the new generation of Fabers and other genealogists,
  • To update the Faber family tree published in 2002,
  • To review existing profiles on Geni and add sources, photos etc. and to note when it is a deduction or assumption with no supporting records or when it is contemporary data provided by relatives and not verified,
  • To only number the generations that have been reviewed and confirmed complete (this is to avoid renumbering in the future),
  • To determine the most probable Haplogroup of the progenitor, and
  • To develop a library of all the Unlinked Fabers on the sister project FABER Unlinked.

Notes: Over the next few months all data up to 1950 from Fabers van Suid-Afrika - Faber family in South Africa on Tribal pages will be transferred to Geni, followed by photos and then all the supporting records will be uploaded.

A Y111 test from FTDNA was ordered for one of the direct male descendants and it will be great if we could get more tests done over time to facilitates validation of data.
