This project seeks to collect the families from the Municipality of Puconci, Slovenia. Its "root" source will be the Evangelical Parish Books (1827 - 1895) and Civil registration books (1895 - 1918) available on Family Search, but will eventually use other sources as many locals migrated elsewhere.
Although the names and surnames on the original books were written generally in a variety of Hungarian renditions (earliest ones in Latin), for clarity sake modern standardised versions in Slovene will be preferred.
The Municipality of Puconci is a municipality in the traditional region of Prekmurje in northeastern Slovenia. The seat of the municipality is the town of Puconci.
The majority of the population is Lutheran, making Puconci one of the few Slovenian municipalities where the majority of the population belongs to a non-Catholic denomination.
There is a Lutheran church in the middle of the town, built in 1784, the first Lutheran church in the region of Prekmurje.
