  • **Family Reunion*** Charleston, South Carolina October 21-24, 2016

for descendants of

Andrew Moffett born September 27, 1793 in Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland; died August 22, 1849 in Charleston, South Carolina

and

Anna Reid Moffett born January 2, 1795 in Charleston, South Carolina; died December 24, 1868 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Andrew first arrived in Charleston in 1812. Andrew and Anna were married In Charleston on September 26, 1818. The had nine children: John Reid Moffett; Elizabeth Reid Moffett; Margaret Hall Moffett Adger; Captain George Hall Moffett (CSA); Mary Walker Moffett; Andrew Moffett, III; Anna Lloyd Moffett; Alexander Moffett and James Green Moffett. Given the large number of their descendants who were born and lived in Charleston, South Carolina, the Reunion will be held there, headquartered in a hotel which housed the original Citadel, across the street from the Second Presbyterian Church. We will arrange walking tours of various Moffett homes and Moffett-related sites in and around Charleston (such as the Andrew Moffett House on East Bay, etc.). We will also attempt to arrange access to various collections of Moffett-family documents kept by the College of Charleston and other local institutions.
