This project is a meeting place for users who share the H1f Mitochondrial DNA haplogroup, which means they are related along their maternal lines. Users in this group may want to share their family trees with each other to find overlaps and merge duplicate profiles in order to join or expand the World Family Tree and discover new relatives.
Haplogroup H is a human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroup that is most common in Europe, and is also found in the Middle East and North Africa. H1 is one of the largest subclades of H, comprising about 30% of haplogroup H 1. H1f is a minor subclade of H1, which is observed in only 8% of the northern central Finns and almost absent elsewhere in Europe. It constitutes a quarter of the selected subset of Finnish Hg H genomes of Finnila, Lehtonen, and Majamaa (2001).
