The Gardens of Hope contain a special place in front of a large cross on the side of the administration building for an exact placement of cremains of church members or their extended families. This practice was first started on the church grounds in 1968.
A photo of this cross on a memorial signifies that a specified location was chosen for the placement of cremains. For those who preferred a scattering of ashes in the gardens, a photo of the lavender colored monument in the general gardens area is included on their memorial.
In 1996 the cremains were moved to their current location (accompanying photo) after the previous location was needed for new buildings to accommodate a growing congregation. Located next to the sanctuary, this newer location is complete with a professionally landscaped area that includes benches for a lovely serene and pastoral setting for remembering loved ones.
As the needs of the congregation continued to grow, the Carolyn and Irving Wheeler Columbarium became a wonderful reality during dedication services in 2008. This very attractive architecturally designed structure of bronze offers an additional option for church members who desire a more formal placement of inurned cremains. For those who have chosen this option, a photo of the columbarium is included with their memorial.
