The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), formerly the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, is a private medical school in New York City. Chartered by Mount Sinai Hospital in 1963, it is the academic teaching arm of the Mount Sinai Health System, which manages eight hospital campuses in the New York metropolitan area. In 2018, it was ranked 18th in the country for biomedical research and led the country in neuroscience research funding from the National Institutes of Health (#1), receiving $31.2 million in 2018. It attracted $348.5 million in total NIH funding in 2018.
