According to the FTDNA Y-DNA Project, there are very few Ingrams in the project with Haplogorup I-M253, which is said to be very rare. Most Ingrams have Haplogroup R-M269. However, the project identifies two Ingram ancestors from Haplogroup I-M253:
Goldman Ingram b. 1777 d. 1850, USA
Sir Randolph Fitz-Ingram b. 1470 d. 1500, England
Unfortunately, presently on Geni the R-M269 and I-M253 lines have become mixed together. Descendants of the I-M253 line are working together to try to sort the lines out and collaborate on their research.
Any Ingram from the Y-DNA Haplogroup I-M253 is encouraged and welcomed to join us to further this endeavor. Any males who are from this haplogroup who haven't had their Y-DNA tested, we urge you to please do so and then please load your DNA results to your Geni profile.
