
Końskowola is a small town in Lublin province, six kilometers from the larger town of Pulawy. Jews lived there since the Sixteenth Century, although virtually the entire Jewish population was murdered by the Nazis after the invasion in 1939. The name of the town derives from the Polish word koń, which means horse. At one time cavalry horses were bred there.
