This project will attempt to identify and collect Jewish persons connected to the town of Niemtschitz in Bohemia in the the early 1800's. The Bloch family is one example of a family name associated with this town.

Identifying the correct town is difficult, having only a few examples of people associated with Niemtschitz at the present time 2017. There are numerous choices as researched by Hanus Peter Grab:

2 x Unter Niemtschitz = Dolní Němčice in Moravia, 2 x Ober Niemtschitz = Horní Němčice in Moravia, 2 x Groß Niemtschitz = Velké Němčice in Moravia, 2 x Klein Niemtschitz = Němčičky in Moravia, 1 x Niemtschitz an der Hanna = Němčice nad Hanou in Moravia, 2 x Niemtschitz = Němčice in Moravia, 10 x Nemcitz = Němčice in Bohemia, 1 x Nemtschitz = Němčice in Bohemia, 1 x Nemitz = Němčice in Bohemia, 1 x Nemcice = Němčice in Bohemia, 1 x Nemcice = Němčice in Moravia.

If you assume that the American spelling is absolutely correct, then there are only two places, but both not in Bohemia, but in Moravia. Perhaps they did not mean country Bohemia, but Kingdom Bohemia? In this case Moravia belongs to it. 1) Němčice, county Blansko, region Jihomoravský kraj, 2) Němčice, now part of Ivančice, county Brno-město, region Jihomoravský kraj.
