This project seeks to collect all of the Jewish families from the village of Hroubovice (Roubovice) in Bohemia, Czech Republic.
Cemetery
A large cemetery established in the mid-17th century on a slope below the forest is approximately half-filled. A total of 250 tombstones from the years 1788-1966 have been preserved. The last burial was held in 1937 (the year 1966 was only chiselled on an older tomb). Of particular value are Late Baroque and Classicist style tombstones as well as younger Neo-Gothic and Secessionist elements. Inscriptions are in Czech, German, Hebrew, and their various combinations (in some cases even in three languages). Two mortuaries have been preserved here.
