I believe I am the great-great-grandson of U.S. Civil War veteran Sgt. John Baird Howe. He was born in Beaver Pennsylvania in1832, died in 1904 and is buried at Fort Dodge (KS) veterans cemetery. I believe his father was Morris Howe, born 1804 in Northumberland, PA and died in 1880. His mother was Mary Latshaw, born 1805 in PA, and died 1875. They were married 1829 in PA. From what I have found Morris's parents were Simeon and Elizabeth (Kephart). Simeon b. 1779, PA, d. 1855. Elizabeth was b. 1782, d. 1817. Simeon's parents were Samuel and Rachel (Deamer) married 1772 in Philadelphia. Samuel was born 1742 in PA, and died 1804. Rachel was born 1758 and died 1820.
