The Julius Schindler Oil-Refining Company (Julius Schindler Öl-Werke)
had a major impact on people who worked close to Julius Schindler and his company.
This project is created for all people who worked in or for this company before and during WW2.
"Schindler's refineries produced all kinds of lubricating oils for the chemical, cosmetic and medical industries. The company's headquarters had been in the office building at Hohe Bleichen 28 since 1920. In 1927 he founded the tanker shipping company Julius Schindler GmbH. Schindler was actively involved in the Jewish community in Altona and Hamburg. He emigrated in the autumn of 1931 and took on Liechtenstein citizenship in 1932. His companies were "Aryanized" by the National Socialists in 1938. He lived in France until 1939, then in the USA. The H&R Ölwerke Schindler GmbH refinery in Hamburg is now a world-leading manufacturer of plasticizer oils for the tire industry. Since 1992, Julius-Schindler-Straße in Wilhelmsburg has been named after him."
