This project is a meeting place for users who share the K1a1b1 Mitochondrial DNA haplogroup, which means they are related along their maternal lines. Users in this group may want to share their family trees with each other to find overlaps and merge duplicate profiles in order to join or expand the World Family Tree and discover new relatives.
I was born Louise Sarraya at a Catholic maternity home for unwed mothers and their babies in California. I was adopted at 2 months of age through a private adoption agency.
I have been searching for my birth family for as long as I can remember.
I found the identity of my birth mother! DNA found my birth father! They were both born in France. My birth fathers family were from Spain.
My birth father was NOT married to my birth mother as it shows here.
23 and me has given me K1a1b1 as my maternal haplogroup, I’ve been able to trace it back to Canada, Sweden, and Norway.
According to Ancestry I am: 42% Basque 29% English, Welsh and Northwestern Europe,16% France, 8% Spain, 3% Ireland Scotland, 2% Sardinia
My birth search has brought about many surprises! I am still learning and hope to add to my family tree!
