Nicholas/Nieklaus is the direct ancestor of a large branch of Klapperich families in America, confirmed through DNA testing.

Anton (Line Anton) and Nicholas (Line Nieklaus) are brothers. Descendants of these two branches can sometimes find DNA matches with descendants from the other brother.

When Nicolaus Klapperich was born on June 4, 1816, in Hausten, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, his father, Jacob Klapperich, was 40 and his mother, Maria Andres, was 30. He married Maria Catherine 'Rohrig' Roerig on July 2, 1846, in Kempenich, Rhineland-Palatinate, [1]Prussia. They had five children in 14 years. He died on January 30, 1870, in New Munich, Minnesota, at the age of 53, and was buried there (February 1871) at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, New Munich, Stearns Co., Minnesota. Marriage 2 July 1846 Marriage Place: Katholisch, Kempenich, Rheinland, Prussia to Maria Catherine Roerig. They had four children in Germany and one more after they emigrated, arriving at the Port of New York on 29 May 1857. He joined his brother Anton, who had emigrated 10 years earlier to Fond du Lac Wisconsin, but Nicholas' family settled in Minnesota where he bought 40 acres of land.
